Deacon Board
The
Deacons of Kaighn Avenue Baptist Church are to advance the
Kingdom of Jesus Christ by assisting the Pastor facilitating
the spiritual needs of the church. Deacons are spiritual
leaders for worship and exalters in the life of the church.
Deacons are the supervisors of the Sheepfold. Those duties
include visit the sick, encourage Christian faithfulness and
advising the Pastor of members various conditions.
The Deacon Board is not an open enrollment. An individual is selected because of their walk has been seen as one that follows and living according to God’s Holy Word.
A Deacon’s ministry is unto the Lord and carried out in the local church. The Deacons are under the leadership of the Pastor and their responsibility is to assist the Pastor. Trustee Board
I Corinthians 4:1-2 – The Trustees are Christian Stewards in charge of all that God has placed in our care, which means we are the caretakers of the Church of God. The mission of the Kaighn Avenue Baptist Church Trustee Board is to supervise and hold in trust the property, finances and personnel associated with the church, and to take the necessary measures for its protection, management and upkeep. Christian Education
It is the mission of Ministry of Christian Education to bring about the integration of all educational initiatives inside and out of the church under one umbrella. The Ministry of Christian Education is comprised of our Church School (traditionally called Sunday School), New Members classes and Extended Classes, Bible Study, Tutorial Program(s), the Summer Enrichment Program, Domestic Violence Training and the Bible Institute, which is in the infant developmental stages. Every functional discipline within the Church School is focused on everyone (1) learning and understanding the Word of God, (2) knowing how to apply the Word of God to their day-to-day lives, and (3) becoming disciples of Christ. Door Keepers / Hospitality Ministry
The ministry is responsible for greeting and welcoming our members, visitors, and friends and comfortably seating them at the proper time. They work apart and along with other boards and ministries distributing bulletins, fans, envelopes, and necessary literature. Forget-Them-Not / Utopia Ministry
To minister to the sick and shut-in at the hospitals, nursing homes, or their homes, sending get-well cards and contacting them by phone. We remember them on their birthdays and holidays with gifts. It is the mission to raise money to carry out these commitments to bring a little cheer into the lives of those who are unable to attend church on a regular basis.
Men’s Ministry
The mission of the Men’s Ministry at Kaighn Avenue Baptist Church is to bring together males of all ages in preparation for Christian discipleship and servant leadership within our homes, church and Greater Camden Community.
Women’s Ministry
The goal of the Women’s Ministry is to support women in their relationship with God. So that through spiritual friendship, educating, empowering, equipping, encouraging, and embracing one another so that we might experience the freedom God intends for us. Bring women together in Christ for encouragement, service, and spiritual growth and development.
Youth Ministry
It is the mission of the KABC Youth Ministry to foster, develop, and honor the spirituality and faith journeys of young people – children, adolescents, and young adults. Our goal is that young people are formulated in their faith by the proclamation of the word/scriptures – preached, taught, and sung – broadened in their holistic development through fellowship and service, and supported in their Christian maturity by the Youth Ministry Council, the parents, and volunteers team, the Scholarship Council, as well as their church family and ministries. We endeavor to equip our young people as ambassadors who will represent the Christ, their families, their church, and their community.
Food & Clothing Ministry
The Food Pantry was established to serve those in the community who are in need of food. The pantry provides fresh fruits, produce, bread, and other baked goods on a weekly basis, first come first serve. The pantry services an average of 50 families each week. The food ministry also provides approximately 130 Thanksgiving Baskets to needy families. An annual Christmas holiday meal is served in our Fellowship Hall to needy families. The Christmas holiday meal service includes a “toys for tots” program. We supply Christmas Surprises to the children of the families that come in for the meal. Any remaining toys are given to a local agency for distribution Clothing for men, women, and children are provided on a weekly basis at the time of the food distribution.
Track & Field Ministry
It is the mission of the KABC Track and Field Ministry to provide healthy and spiritual bodies for both youth and adults while enjoying outdoor recreational activities. We also seek to create opportunities to evangelize to other people who sign up for Track and Field who are non-members. We invite them to attend other KABC ministries including Sunday School and Worship Services, which is a requirement by the Eastern District Congress of Christian Education to participate in the track and field races. Furthermore we learn to compete and fellowship with other churches in a spiritual manner.
Pastor’s Helping Hands Ministry
To care for the personal needs of the Pastor, and family, and Ministers Other: Support the needs of the church in special projects
Outreach Ministry
The ministry consists of Deacon, Lay persons and affiliated members, who are excellent Bible students. The ministry is under the director of the Pastor.
Ministries are at the Garrett House and the Fletcher House, male and female, located at 525 Cooper Street, Camden, NJ
Outreach Nursing Home Ministry
To bring a message of hope to the sick, afflicted and shut in at the nursing homes. We bring the Good News of the Gospel by reading the Word of God, combined with prayer and hymns. We let the residents know that God loves each and every one.
Hospitality Ministry
Meet and greet parishioners as they enter for worship. A special helping hand to the seniors and the handicap. To act as host and hostesses at various church events.
Scholarship Ministry
The Mission of the KABC Scholarship Committee is to provide financial support, promote growth and to encourage the educational pursuits of the students of Kaighn Avenue Baptist Church and Community, whose desire is to further their education, by attending an institution of higher learning or Trade School. The KABC Scholarship Committee is comprised of men and women who are educators and leaders in their respective fields. Our assignment
Ministry of Liturgy and Worship
Worship is the gathering of believers to honor and commune with God. It is the “doing” (acting) of worship and all entailed: preaching, testimony, prayers, singing, sacred dance, dramatic presentations, offerings, and fellowship in community as disciples of Christ. Liturgy is planning of the worship experience and the training of worship workers in preparation for the worship experience.
Praise Dance Ministry
To minister to souls of mankind and encourage every member to become a soul winner through the ministry dance (music). To enhance the worship experience to successfully win the lost to provide an atmosphere of love, compassion, and acceptance for all through the Word of God in dance and fine arts. To teach and study the Word of God in dance. To continue to minister in dance as we are called to do as such in times of need.
Alpha and Omega Drama Ministry
It is the mission of the Kaighn Avenue Baptist Church drama ministry to share the gospel of Jesus Christ as presented in the word of God (The Holy Bible) through the incorporation of dramatic fine arts including, but not limited to drama, mime, puppetry, dance, vocal and instrumental music. We wish to offer specialized training to those in the body of Christ desiring these skills for use in evangelism and adding new converts to local churches. It is our ultimate goal to honor God in all aspects of His ministry, remaining obedient to our mission statement, after every event we have altar call for salvation.
Music Guild
Guild Mission: The KABC mission is to enhance the worship experience, and facilitate offerings of praise using the sounds of trumpets, lutes, harps, stringed instruments, flutes, cymbals, voices, timbral, dance and other scared art forms that lift up the name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Guild Objectives:
Maintain the media systems and instruments used
for worship and special events.
Support the planning
of diverse sacred art events.
Culinary Ministry
The
mission of the Culinary Ministry is to provide inventory
administration and assistance, management of kitchen and
storage spaces, events support, and ministry support to the
various entities of the church and visiting organizations.
Our mission is to help lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by creating a dynamic environment with effective communication through marketing and advertisement while developing a genuine community with each other and within the greater Camden area.
Summer Enrighment Program
The KABC Summer Enrichment Program was traditionally known as Vacation Bible School. As an extension of the Sunday Church School, the main focus is to reach people, make Bible earning fun, and to teach the Bible so that children may be brought into a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Like the Church School, VBS’s function and purpose come from the Word of God. Deuteronomy 31:12-13 gives us God’s plan. “Gather the people together, men, women, and children and they stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the Lord your God, and observe to do all the words of this law; and their children, which have not known anything may hear, and learn to fear the Lord.”
Media Ministry
To provide members, relatives, and friends with CD and DVD recordings of Sunday worship services, revivals, concerts, and other events at KABC for their inspiration, witness and further study of God’s Word. Also responsible for live video streaming Sunday worship services and uploading sermons and other events to YouTube.
Abundant Grace Outreach Ministry
Share the gospel of Jesus Christ with men, women, and youth who are in transition.
Wholeness and Wellness Ministry
By way of service, fellowship, teaching and worship, the
wholeness and wellness ministry will provide programming,
resources, support and encouragement to members, their
families and the community to promote holistic well-being to
glorify God and to make an impact in the lives of others.

dimensions are aligned with biblical principles found in the
book of
Romans chapter 12
